The team is led by Academician Gu Peihua, with 3 high-level talents at national/provincial level, 5 professors, 8 full-time engineers, and 35 master's and doctoral students. The team focuses on innovative product design and development, industrial software development, big data management, and intelligent factory fields, and has received several honors such as the China Design Contribution Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, the Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Progress First Prize, and the Tianjin Science and Technology Progress First Prize.
Based on adaptable design theory, the team has established an entropy method for product design and evaluation, proposed an integrated solution for innovative design and low-carbon smart manufacturing, and developed an intelligent product adaptable low-carbon design software platform. This platform enables modular product design, component reusability, rapid product upgrade iterations through flexible structural configuration design, significantly shortening the personalized product design and development cycle, reducing equipment development costs and resource waste, and improving enterprise R&D and production efficiency.
The proposed design methods and software platform are particularly suitable for rapid development of different variants of products within the same series and continuous improvement design throughout the product lifecycle. The project outcomes of "Open Architecture Product Adaptable Design Method and Its Application in Typical Equipment" have been successfully applied in various industries such as large machine tools, printing equipment, packaging equipment, and new energy, and have been applied and promoted in enterprises in provinces and cities including Guangdong, Fujian, and Zhejiang, achieving over 950 million RMB of direct economic benefits within three years.
