Professor at Tianjin University Doctoral Supervisor Talented Professor in the Beiyang, Professional Development System for Teachers
The team, led by Professor Ren Chengzu from Tianjin University, consists of 1 Talented Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Postdoctoral Researcher, 1 Full-time Engineer, and over 20 Master's and Ph.D. students. The team focuses on ultra-precision manufacturing technology for bearing rollers and has undertaken over 20 national research projects, including key R&D projects of the national key R&D program and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. They have secured 17 Chinese invention patents and 7 overseas invention patents.
Addressing the industry pain points arising from the poor dimensional consistency of bearing rollers due to traditional process limitations, the team has proposed a disruptive original grinding technology - the Multi-Sample Direct Comparison Reciprocating Grinding. They have developed the first-generation prototype of a precision grinding robot for bearing rollers, capable of batch processing cylindrical rollers at the G1 level standard and spherical rollers at the I level standard. This not only meets the stringent requirements for sub-micron diameter consistency in mass-produced rollers but also effectively challenges the foreign technology monopoly, achieving import substitution. The team is currently working on the commercialization of this technological achievement.
The widespread application of this technology breakthrough will greatly enhance the precision level of bearing rollers in China. It will play a crucial role in meeting the urgent demand for ultra-precision bearing rollers in strategic areas such as aviation engines, high-end machine tools, robots, and high-speed railways. This will not only promote the transformation from a manufacturing power to a manufacturing powerhouse but also hold significant scientific and engineering value.
