Member of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Member of CSCM (Chinese Society for Composite Materials) Professor and master supervisor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tianjin University
The team is led by Associate Professor Li Yang from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tianjin University, includes 1 national/provincial high-level talent, 5 Associate Professors, 6 full-time engineers, and 1 Master's and Ph.D. student. With an average of over 10 years of experience in aerospace, defense technology development, product research, and production sales, they specialize in forming, welding, and additive manufacturing of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites (CFRTP).
Centred around ultrasound technology, their research spans additive manufacturing, welding, repair, and simulation of CFRTP. They have developed a range of products, including CFRTP ultrasonic manufacturing equipment, ultrasonic continuous welding robots, ultrasonic injection repair robots, and ultrasonic manufacturing simulation software. These innovations enhance production efficiency and reduce costs in thermoplastic composite manufacturing. Notably, they have successfully fabricated a prototype CFRTP ultrasonic continuous welding machine, enabling continuous welding of components to meet stringent aerospace structural requirements.
The team provides services in thermoplastic composite material welding, composite/metal dissimilar material welding, and composite material liquid forming technology. Their technologies find applications in drone wings, target drone fuselages, satellite structural components, high-speed rail suspension brackets, and more. They have established an incubation company and production bases in Shaoxing, Tianjin, Taizhou, Zhenjiang, and five other locations. Collaborations with prestigious domestic institutions such as the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the General Staff Department's 60th Research Institute underscore their significant contributions to advancing CFRTP manufacturing in China.
