Established in 2014 during the APEC China year, APSEC is one of the two main research entities under the APEC Energy Working Group, alongside Japan's Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC). Domestically, APSEC operates under the National Energy Administration and is the first and only international institution led by the Chinese government. Tianjin University manages its daily operations, positioning it as a high-end think tank aligned with the university's "Double First-Class" development strategy. APSEC's mission includes facilitating international energy cooperation for China, providing a platform for sustainable energy technology collaboration among APEC economies, and offering comprehensive and specialized services. The Shaoxing branch of APSEC focuses on optimizing the energy structure of Shaoxing. It aims to align with the trends and dynamics of APEC regional energy cooperation, advancing Shaoxing's smart energy solutions in a phased and hierarchical manner to reach international markets.
